    Got mine removed as well for free. Was told there is a £10 charge (UK) but I asked if they could waive it as I am a long term prime customer and I spend a fortune on Amazon.
    Love that we all spent a hundred bucks on a kindle but nobody wants to pay a little extra to have it ad-free :)

    Thank you. I called amazon and they removed mine and my wife's for free. The charge in the UK is £10m which they refunded.

    wow that actually worked. Literally took me all of 5 minutes with customer service to deactivate it. Told them I felt swindled and will return the device. They fixed it in under 5 minutes. I was actually considering spending the $15 or $20 to deactivate it.

    I am SO glad I didn't end up paying to remove the ads. My conversation was literally this easy :


    Me : I just received this kindle yesterday and while I love it-- I didn't realize that there would be so many ads. The ads are very obnoxious and I was wondering if they could be removed
