     yesterday

At the 6:34 mark, the Poll question was:
"How much do you trust information from the President?"
    REP DEM
    QUITE A BIT 40% 5%
    NOT AT ALL 15% 61%
I wasn't surprised only 5% of Democrats Trusted the President, but I thought about at least 70% or 80% of persons of the Republican persuasion would have "QUITE A BIT" of Trust in what the President says. BUT 40%??? --DAMN! But, c'mon Republicans, you can be more "Loyal" than that!

    Then another Poll question was:
"What makes a fact likely to be true?"
    REP DEM
    VERIFIED BY SCIENTISTS 40% 72%
    VERIFIED BY ACADEMICS 30% 57%
So that begs the question: Exactly WHAT makes a fact "TRUE" for more than 50% of Republicans?
Does it have to be "Verified" by BOTH Rush Limbaugh AND Sean Hannity AND Tucker Carlson?

Let's put aside, for now, that many "Scientists" are also "Academics".
And let's look at a concrete example, to illustrate the above:

About 2 years ago, I watched a Youtube Video of a Debate on Fox News between:
    > Marc Morano (of Climate Depot) a famous (or INfamous (depending on your point of
view) ) Denier in Man-Made Climate Change (and its subset, Global Warming).
    >Bill Nye The Science Guy.

At one point, Marc Morano said : "OK, Bill just wasted 15 minutes of our time telling us that CO2 warms the Earth".

As a follow-up I would ask: who do you trust MORE, (A) or (B)?
    A) Rush Limbaugh/ Sean Hannity
    B) Rachel Maddow/ Chris Cuomo

Honestly my trust in scientists these days is about 7.5/10. Because even scientists can be bought by corporations to make their research conclusions look a certain way. Plus there is still race and gender bias among scientists. Even if they don't deliberately try to skew the outcome of their research, people have preconceived notions of certain topics, especially on things like biological or genetic differences between sexes. Scientists are people too. Just because someone is a scientist, it doesn't necessarily mean that he/she is a good scientist. Scientists =/= scientific thinking.

He is showing a lot of republican talking points. Education money doubled? With inflation it is really 50% lower. $1 is worth less then 20 yrs ago. It is only 50 cents or less. Example disneyland tickets 20 yrs ago were $25, now they are $99 to see half of the park.

Many scientists are academics at the same time. Being a scientist is about using the scientific method to learn about nature. Academics work in universities. One does not preclude the other. A lot of science is done in universities.

I don't have a problem with paying taxes. What I do have a problem with is the government wasting money I've worked hard for. Public servants should be held personally responsible for wasting taxpayers money as well as being compensated if they come up with ideas to save tax money. Right now there is zero incentive to save or not waste money and it needs to be changed...
