  • Is Shell V-Power Nitro+ better than cheap gasoline? Shell claims that it cleans better and contains 7 times the amount of detergents required. So, will Shell V-Power Nitro+ clean better than cheap gasoline? Will it prevent carbon buildup? Will an engine achieve better fuel efficiency? Let's find out. Excuse me, but does anyone know if Shell V power Nitro + will damage my car's engine? I drive a 2014 Subaru Forester that has close to 130,000 miles on it. The engine of this car is a 2.5-liter boxer 4. and the transmission is CVT. And the gas I always put in my car is Regular or 87 octane. Is it safe to use?

Good test in thermodynamics. If it was a high compression motor we would see much different results.

What are your thoughts on using a catch can and deleting the PvC system to prevent carbon buildup in the intake

I live in an area in northeast U.S. where most of everyone is cheapskate. Area is filled with crap gas stations you see nowhere else in the country. Only two Shell gas stations within 1 hour's drive at least. Pay now or pay later. Funny thing is area is full of automotive repair shops 😓.

The best gas you can buy is from the newest or the most well maintained gas station in your area. Brands don't matter, sediment in old, decaying, unmaintained subsurface gas storage tanks does. 99% will get caught by your fuel filter, but you will have to change your filter more often, which can be major $$$ depending on the make and model.

Better change from FLiBe exactly LiF und BeF2 eutecticum to Li-7 liquid metal thorium reactor since beryllium very rare etc. Lithium melts 180 boils 1340 critical 2950°C and is excellent coolant and excellent moderator with strong bubble slow down and less absorption
not going radioactive itself no expansion on solidification like bismut binding tritium, iodine etc. easy extractable with centrifuge because hot only 0.5g/cm³ el.mg. pumpable like natrium
etc. running in adapted Na fast breeder for quick test.

Addable small RBN ThO2 pebbles like for RBN Th pebble bed HTR using cubic boron nitride isotopes B-11 & N-15 + fine ThO2 baked in BN for 30 years pebble runtime hot harder diamond not burnable and insoluble.

Lithium planned for fusion reactor blanket is lithium-6 for FLiBe nuclear reactor lithium-7 itself moderator about very rare berylium.

Hot plasma fusion is wrong approach for commercial durable reactor that must hold extreme heat radiation and high energy fusion neutrons with it's walls better cold fusion shooting heavy nucleoses like from Hg into D2O causing D-D punsh fusion out of ring accelerator as steam from beam before, inside tube accelerating ship not loosing any mass with counter rotator for standing in air after 1 year with 1g near speed of light
    etc.

That’s a bit of an unfair test to put the cheap gas after the expensive gas. If it does have more detergents then it would have cleaned the engine a bit and not have given you a fair benchmark for the regular gas.

Years ago I went on a tour of Chevron's Richmond, California refinery. The tour was for mechanical engineering students from Sacramento State Univ., so it was conducted by one of Chevron's engineers. The additive package is not the whole picture. When a giant tanker offloads its crude into the refinery, it is run through the cracking tower on a continuous cycle until the tanker is empty. The cracked gasoline and diesel is stored separately from other batches of gas and diesel, and is tested by Chevron's lab. It's tested for sulfur content, which is the main impurity in crude oil. If the sulfur level is above Chevron's benchmark, the whole batch is wholesaled out to independent gas stations like arco, circle K, costco, etc. That's why their gas is cheaper, because it's high sulfur fuel. Over time, that sulfur will form a hard, ceramic like coating on the inside of the combustion chambers and pistons. When pieces of that coating break off, if they get stuck under an exhaust valve that'll lead to a burnt valve.

Chevron's R&D lab at Richmond runs all kinds of engines for thousands of hours not just on Chevron's fuel but their competitors as well. We saw an engine run on Chevron fuel for 6000 hours and the inside of the chambers looked almost brand new. The engineer wouldn't name the brands that produced the most deposits. Looking at the engine in the worst shape, I asked him if that gas was 'brand M' and he smiled and said 'yes.' So it's the combination of a good additive package and low sulfur fuel that makes for the best gas to use in your car.

Why would you copare it to 87? Anybody with a brain should lnow that you use the grade of gas the manufacture calls for. High octane for cars that have engine timing tuned for the 91+ grade. It should be premium vs low cost premium

Cheaper low octane has more power, which is why they add more octane for performance engines because of high compression engine.
Hi octane fuel is a scam , been saying for years, pay more get less
