  • In this video, I tell you how to break in a car engine. With modern cars, the engine break-in process is actually really simple, and pretty much only involves 3 simple steps. You basically have to go easy on the throttle and RPMs for the first little bit, and change the oil to remove all of the metal shards from within the engine. I go into more detail about these steps throughout the video, but it is a fairly straightforward process.

Nobody change engine oil at couple hundred miles. The oil filter is supposed to hold metal sharpers there as it normally last 3 to 5k miles.

    Metal shards in engine?
    That doesn't sound good!
My car is getting a new engine because of metal shards. It was a factory defect.

Sorry for this i just only to ask a question regarding the car varying peed during the Break-in process of a new car. So my question is, what is the car varying speed in KPH when you are break-in your new car? Is there any maximum speed (KPH) while making a break-in? And the same time the engine speed should not exceed 3500rpm right?. Thanks a lot and God bless.

My last two cars was brand new. I drove 10-15min til the engine was warm and then I did full red line acceleration repeatedly. No oil change until service at 30 000km. They worked really well! New car engines are broken in at factory. The only thing that needs to set is the piston rings sealing and then baby the engine is the worst thing one can do.
