The Rogue Tesla Mechanic Resurrecting Salvaged Cars

  • Rich is a car enthusiast whose passion is to find wrecked Teslas, bring them back to life, and then share his repair adventures on his YouTube channel Rich Rebuilds.

When he found out that Tesla would not service or support his salvaged cars, he took it upon himself to scour the internet and harvest working parts from several busted Teslas. He Frankensteined them together until his creations were fully operational, at a fraction of what it would cost to buy a new or certified pre-owned Tesla.

Motherboard travels to Massachusetts to meet with the rogue mechanic leading a grassroots movement of DIY fixers who are taking back the right to repair the things they own.

You are doing a great job brother by informing the rest of us not to be discouraged. Even if some huge company tells us to stop. Mainly because they want that money for themselves to further their bad/good intentions.

He probably knows more about the car in total than any one individual at Tesla. Very few people would take on what Rich is doing. Not a task for the average do it yourselfer.

Tesla is just the Apple of the car world. I've never bought an apple product and I can't see me ever buying a Tesla. I would like an electric car but not from a company like Tesla.

(1:50) - Uncle Rich. I love you, man but it's "cobble".
    One "cobbles together" some contraption.
Hobbling together would be two people, each with a broken leg, supporting each other, as they "hobble together", down the road.
I know, I know. I'm a pedantic nerd but hey! I love you man, and just don't want you to sound dumb.
I remain your loyal, and most observant servant,
    Chris Bodragon.

I refuse to buy Tesla. I owned a Chrysler and that was an awful experience on the mechanical end. These guys make that look like a paradise. No thank you!

Let's keep in mind that every Tesla made is subsidized by the taxpayer of the United States. Maybe you should let the White House know just how protective Tesla's being of spare parts for a product that we the taxpayers are funding.... Elon Musk is just another libtard that's a capitalist in libtard clothing

Tesla is not an exceptional car. It is a huge unnecessary complex car. Which happens to use a name it doesn't deserve. A name that shouldn't had been touched. That is why everything Elon Musk touched will go bankrupt.
