- EU countries advocate imposing border adjustment taxes since 2023, levied on imported carbon-containing products that don’t meet the climate rules.
Like Greta Thunberg said, as a developing country, China manufactures a lot of our products. Yes, as a developing nation, China still performs high-energy-consuming manufacturing.
However, the whole world is dependent on products made in China, like 70% of the world’s toothbrushes, 70% of toys and 40% of socks all coming from China.
Will EU’s border adjustment taxes be a motivation for energy structure optimization or just another excuse for trade protectionism?
