I understand George Takei's problem with Sulu being portrayed as gay, and that's not what I have a problem with. What really threw me off during the movie was that Kirk observed his crew (main characters) going with their families, but for some reason chooses to linger his gaze the most on Sulu and his husband. For a society that should be ultraprogressive, this seemed odd that Kirk would be looking on the most at this. It literally stinks of JJ Abrams screaming "SEE? SEE?! I'M INCLUSIVE TO EV...

@Sabrina Schell The problem is, for long time Trek fans, randomly making making Sulu gay is both insulting to the audience and messes with canon. There already have been gay characters in Trek before. This isn't new. If they really wanted to, they should have written their own character along those lines. But I predicted they'd do this. I was thinking "What is the laziest thing they could do? Oh yeah, they'll probably make Sulu gay." Takei rightly called them out on that BS. Like the rest of ...

Actually l prefer to think of Kirk's reaction as "Holy shit Sulu's gay??? That's funny he doesn't act gay!!!" 😂🤣😂🤣

Actually no, Federation did have the technology to cloak. However in agreement with the Romulans they stopped developing it

@Rasgriz Revelations I disagree. It's like cloaking tech is their nuclear arsenal. They both have the specs and probably reserves of the tech if they ever need it (if one of them breaches the agreement), but they don't use it without provocation. Major hostile superpowers in the real world have agreed to limit development and expansion of weaponry arsenals (aka the US and USSR when they signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Agreement). Again, they both still HAVE the tech, they just don't use it or make ...

8:32 When he said "Green Lantern?" No. Not Green Lantern. In the original series there is an episode where the enterpise is literally grabbed out of orbit by a gigantic green force field hand.

I think this movie is the record for most sin takeoffs!P.S. Do the princess bride pls!

  • Ecliptor Calrissian

@Christopher Watters That's the thing - the movies with more sin takeoffs usually had a bunch taken off for ONE cool moment or factor. This movie just might set a record for the number of TIMES they said "we gotta admit that was awesome; sin off!"

No; technically, that would be the Lion King. Ten sins were taken off for when they actually *SHOWED* Scar murder Mufasa.

@『Alt-F4』 I'm a huge fan of classic Star Trek, and I also hated the Abrams adaptations, but I *liked* this one the most. I thought it was nice that they were finally not basing their plots off of stories that were already told (that were better before), and finally doing something different and new. This was like a classic Star Trek plot line, just with new special effects. I thought that was great.
