I wouldn't be surprised if LeBron's supporting his kid simply as a father, and not with the expectation or desire of wanting him to be in the league.

LeBron had a natural desire and desperation to get out of financial poverty that fueled his talent growing up, which his son likely doesn't have (Kobe and Steph were RARE as kids who grew up rich with NBA father's and still had the burning passion and became great as if they grew up poor).

Bron knows the scrutiny that his son will face with the vultures who're singing his praises as an amateur will soon turn against him with no mercy at the drop of him not being on their favorite team, or not being great.

Bron's greatest gift to his son (in my opinion that matters none) would be to deter his son from being a NBA player to avoid the public pitfalls, and gear him towards the minds of Rich Paul, Maverick Carter, Warren Buffet, etc., to master the white collar empire that Bron's basketball skills and vision has built because there's much more longevity and the odds of success are exponentially higher in that arena.
