Unemployed - Stigma, fate or just economy byproduct?

- Unemploment is a topic with great stigma. In western media, unemployment is understood as something that the workers are responsible for. Here we show a bizarre and dystopian employment office where our protagonist learns about the different types of unemployment, the effects unemployment can have on our social and psychological wellbeing and the question if unemployment should be seen as something that happens because of the way the economy works. In Germany we are very privileged as we have insurances for unemployment, but even here, unemployed people are stigmatised and face a lot of problems. We want to talk about the differences of hired labour and essential work that people do but don‘t get paid for. Why don‘t we honor every kind of labour the same way? For example with an UBI – an unconditional basic income. Our protagonist has to face all these topics on the way to his new job.
Tell us - What do YOU think about unemployment, what do YOU think about unemployed people, how would you change the system that deals with unemployment and who should be held accountable for unemployment? Leave a comment and we are very happy to read about YOUR ideas.
