Your number 1 is hitting the ball with your practice swing? Seriously? I don't think I have seen that done in 45 years of play.

    Number 1 should have been:
"blindly pulling the driver on every par 4 and not thinking about the distance you want to leave yourself from the green".

Sometimes it is better to pull out a 3 wood, hybrid, or even an iron to limit the risk, position the ball on a dogleg, or to leave yourself with a full shot in for shorter holes. I only hit driver on 4 out of 10 par fours on my course now whereas 2 years ago it was 8 or 9 out of 10. I am losing less golf balls and scoring better because of it.

mark your ball EVERY time you miss a putt - THIS IS WHY IT TAKES 5 hours cause idiots do this. yes walk around take a breathe - dont lean over and try to knock it in - by all means - but you DO NOT have to mark and wait on every putt.
Why do you think 70 yards is a bad distance for EVERY GOLFER.

I can honestly say I have never hit the ball with a practice swing. I can never understand why so many golfers practice swing so close to the ball, sometimes without even changing their stance for the actual shot.

Would like camera to record ball landing. Just add a few more seconds and show the results!

Truth, my grandpaw used to beat my eyes shut, middle fairway, middle green, two putt. Par all the time. I want my push ups back. I was young, had a limber back and could hit 290 off the tee when I wanted. lol, ,miss my grandpaw and his sayings. Treasure them if you have them, and listen to every single thing.

Under reading the break on a putt, better to go in on the high side than the low, not knowing how far you hit each club, not thinking what side of the fairway to play into off the tee which means not giving yourself any green to work with, the list goes on

Taking a practise swing or putt and then not moving the whole unit just leaning across to take the shot...where did I see that?

How about always hitting driver on par 4s and 5s. Lots of MEN do that...

Worst mistake I make is walking into the bush without an extra ball in my pocket. "Here it is!"

Big one: walking straight to your ball from the cart. I can't tell you how many times I've walked up, hit a putt and then walked around to the other side and said "Oh....that's why it went 20 feet past. It looks WAY more downhill from over here."

#13. Spending stupid amounts of money on golf equipment & clothes.
#14. (which should really be #1.) ... Even just thinking about stepping onto a golf course in the f*kin first place!
Just my opinion, of course ;-)

Re: playing uphill. Use a range finder with a slope measurement. If you can afford to play these types of courses, and the clubs, clothes, shoes, etc., it should be no sacrifice to invest in an accurate range finder. Further to my point, it astounds me the folks that will stock their bag with very decent to great equipment, and play with golf balls priced at $15/dozen. For a newcomer, someone without money to spend, an entirely different issue. For those of us lucky enough to play higher end courses, invest money wisely.

Jokes on you, I don't make these mistakes, because I have no idea what I'm doing when I golf.
