Gervais is attention seeking here....proving his PC credentials by promoting sexual deviancy....
After a bit you realise hes a nasty little piece of work but cunning none the less...
He is also short....which is always a danger....short bastards have proven themselves to be trouble because they've got a hang up about it.

The problem is not the act of marriage, its its civil consecuences. Gay marriage is non useful for society thus it shoul not be rewarded as traditiinal marriage is. And yes, the same applies to heterosexual marriage with no children.

The Constitution does not say sep ch and state. The Supremes erroneous interpretation of a letter bet T. Jefferson and a Baptist Ch. Pres Jefferson assured that congregation, that there would be no single national denomination, like in European countries. This over zealous so-called sep presumption by the Crt gives "gays" excuse to indulge in abomination in defiance to Gods Word, like giving a thief a rationale to rob a bank in this modern humanistic society?

This interp also caused Sup Crt gods to erroneously legislate traditional prayer and Bible reading out of schools, hardly betterment of society nor progressive lower rate of crime and shootings ev yr., esp by youth, courtesy of students studying Positivism instead of the Constitution in law school; and shutting down needed mental institutions for those that can't help themselves? Quite the contrary. This is real progress?

but what part of this scenario is sane?
gay person walks into a church - marry us.

what right do they have to be in a church? nevermind asking to be married. Marriage is an institution of God... right from adam and eve.. although less formal back then.
And the problem is that for an unrepentant gay to enter a church is a no no. For an unrepentant gay to want to marry in a church is outrageous and its this lack of recognition of things that are "outrageous" and "extremely inappropriate" that make the situation dangerous.

Go marry in a park, or by the ocean or somewhere else. Thats a decent thing to do.

When people have no idea what appropriate behavior is, we dont give them a key to the city. We learned this from the sodom and gomorrah incident.
