I had a mom who did this to me when I watched her two kids saying she couldn’t pay me because she needed to fix her car and then other excuses after I tried getting ahold of her and she just straight up ignored me. I told her I couldn’t watch her kids anymore then and she just said they were probably bored at my house anyways since I lived in an apartment smh!

I knew a one who tried to pay my sister with a soup can. (She was not poor, just cheap). And get this, her name was Karen!)
I’m glad she is no longer my neighbor.

If I had texts of her agreeing to pay me and then saying she wouldn't, I would report her for theft of services.

Things like this happens more then people realize. When I was fresh out of trade school in hopes to become an electrician, I didn't have connections so I was calling small companies to basically work as a tool runner and learn somethings to work my way up. We would agree on payment, and they would work me to the bone, which I assumed was part of the field when you're new when you don't have experience, but after 2 weeks I'd ask when was I going to get paid, and they'd tell me you're gaining experience that's more valuable then money. And the companies that are legitimate won't even really consider you without experience. I loved the field so much, but had to move on because I have bills just like everyone else, and some of these contractors are sketchy when it's time to pay up. Take it to small claims every time and save all your proof on payment agreements. But expect it to be the last time you deal with them as well.

This happened to my mom. She babysat the daughter of a family friend for 2 months when they told her she will get paid. At least that babysister got ice cream. The girl was the only person my mom babysat where the parents didn't bring any food, all the kids that my mom have babysat before, their parents will bring her their kids' lunch even if they knew my mom was willing to cook for them. Plus they were also the strictest parents as well, they would call our house a lot to see if her daughter was eating and if we were treating her right, every single time she was there. They paid my mom with given her a coupon 10% off at the gym they go to. When they knew my mom already goes to the gym.

As someone who has babysat children all throughout high school, both regular and special needs children, it is definitely a lot of work. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if someone did me like that. It's a lot of work and so much pressure on the babysitter because all children have different needs. Keeping in mind discipline, medications and medical issues all come into play trying to keep children safe. I really wish someone would try me like that.
