Dawn Bennett passenger rail is the reason why Los Angeles has far worse traffic than NYV despite being a fraction of the size. I rather prefer freedom from traffic.

These intrusive government policies will have no effect on climate change. I'm glad I don't live in New York.

Will this new proposal also include emissions from asphalt roads and rooftops or is this only counting emissions from vehicles. And what about boats?

I applaud the effort as long as it comes with no new taxes. We are already taxed to the gills. I would like to see NY fix the roads, trains, airports, and bridges first. It seems the Senator and Mayor are too busy running for the Democratic nomination to focus on our issues.

I don't think it helps much when regions do big things unilaterally since the climate is a world problem and raising the cost to do business means business goes elsewhere where they probably won't have as restrictive environmental regs.Personally I think we should concentrate on a world-wide carbon tax where countries that don't participate get tariffs by the ones that do. This won't hurt business because it will be done equally throughout the world. Alternative energy becomes more economical.

Climate change has always occurred. Artificially holding the climate constant by intervention is a futurist idea that isn't a good idea at present since we cannot accurately predict climate change with current computer models.
