Proper break-in is important for the reliability, performance, and longevity of your vehicle. Part of the way you make sure your engine lasts is through how you drive your new car for those first thousand miles (check your owner's manual for the exact mileage). There are several things which you should avoid doing, including giving your vehicle full throttle, taking your engine to redline, using cruise control, traveling short distances, and towing. We'll talk about various different engine break-in procedures, used in the Nissan GT-R, Acura NSX, Chevrolet Corvette, and even a land-speed record car built by an FCA engineer as a hobby.

Does that apply to Hybrids? I mean the ICE engine in the hybrid is not always running.

So i had a remanufactured engine installed and they recommend break in. What is a "varied throttle" cycle. Speed up slow down continuously, or speed up for a minute slow down for a minute, what does it mean?

Stop posting videos commenting on what is good for a combustion engine. You are not a combustion engine scientist nor have you provided any relative evidence to support any of your claims. The only justification for not hot rodding a new car is being nice to the automatic transmission and other wear parts that do NOT include the engine. It has been proven a thousand times over that engines need a hard break in for best combustion, the least amount of blow by, sealing efficiency and overall longevity. No race team on the planet follows your recommendations. No engineering team will validate your claims. The reason the owners manual states otherwise is for the benefit for the manufacturer, not the consumer. Stop spouting this non sense. Stop it. Now. Please :D

@engineering explained, most dealer employees abuse brand new cars during pre-delivery inspection, detailing etc. Would still be beneficial to do a light break-in after?

When I put first 1000 miles on my Focus ST, I would just change gears on the highway headed to work and accelerate from 65-80, basically rubber banding and changing gears
