I wanted to revisit this video because I just learned some lovely news. I was out to get groceries the other day when we (my father, brother, and myself) passed by what used to be our old Blockbuster. As I look at the building a noticed a new sign on it. At first I was like "Oh, someone rented it out, It's been sitting there unused for years." But then I actually read the sign and it read "DaVita". My father must had picked up on my displeasure about this and told me that my great aunt used to go to a DaVita center for dialysis. And the first thought that ran through my head was no wonder why she died (Which I thought semi-jokingly.) Unfortunately sometimes what I'm thinking just happens to slip out which infuriated my father (being that it was his aunt) to which I basically had to recite the information from this video and because my father never believes a thing I say it ended with quite the quiet ride home with a person at the wheel who was obviously livid.

Everytime I think of Dialysis I remember that scene in star trek 4 where there in the hospital and McCoy asks what her problem is she says dialysis and he gives her a pill and suddenly she's all better.

that awkward moment when you realize that John shit all over Taco Bell and even though there are things about it that are objectively awful, it is or at least was for a time the healthiest fast food around, even beating subway because subway's meat sits out there and gathers diseases all day.

I actually just emailed the Canadian kidney association to see if I can start the process to donate one of my kidneys. Wish me luck everyone!

My dad got hepatitis C from a Fresenius dialysis center. It ultimately killed him. We tried to sue but just didn't have money to take on a massive company and lawyers told us there was a chance they could drag out the case for a decade or more. Apparently they are sued constantly.

I go to a Fresenius clinic in NYC. There are about 3 or 4 nurses and the same amount of techs when I go which is usually from 7-11pm. The experience has been good so far but it’s only been two weeks on dialysis.

I have never seen any there at all. My doctor pushed me to go here because that where he had “privileges” but I haven’t seen him there at all so why was I “not being discharged from the hospital until dialysis is set up”.

What's worse than being on dialysis in America?
Needing dialysis and not being able to get it anywhere else!

0:39 No, the correct response is “If you don’t get out of my face, YOU will need dialysis.” Because if she punched up that person’s arms / legs enough, she could cause widespread muscle death, causing the release of a protein called myoglobin, which not only catalizes more muscle and cell death, but damages the kidneys with that cell death, causing kidney failure and causing the person to need dialysis because they don’t have functioning kidneys anymore. (BTW this process is called rhabdomyolysis.)

Well then....now that I know how much money is being thrown around, I'll busy myself with making at home dialysis options......Now I should mention that my prototype may look suspiciously like a cobbled together bunch of medical tubing, brita filters, and an aquarium pump, but don't worry, that's only for testing purposes. The final product will (probably) look more professional. Units will come with 2 filters, for more filters go to Amazon.
